Collections at the Music & Dramatic Arts Library

Overview

Containing over 72,000 volumes, the Music & Dramatic Arts Library (M&DAL) collections support a variety of music and dramatic arts graduate and undergraduate programs in the School of Fine Arts. Use of the library is also extended to the University, community, and state. Most materials are listed in UConn's Library catalog (HOMER).

The M&DA Library holds most of the University Libraries' materials relating to the subject of MUSIC. This collection includes books, journals, printed music, sound and video recordings, microforms, CD-ROMs, and online resources related to research in the following disciplines: music history; musicology; theory; composition; music education; performance; jazz; musical theater; ethnic and world music; music psychology and therapy, and, to a lesser extent, popular music.

Selected DRAMATIC ARTS materials, with emphasis on stagecraft books and acting editions of playscripts are also housed in the M&DA Library. The library also has most of the new dramatic arts videos. Additional dramatic arts resources are housed at the Babbidge Library.
