Collection Program PlansEach academic program at UConn has a library plan for collection development and information services, showing how local collections, networked electronic services, and document delivery work together to meet its particular needs. These plans follow the broad guidelines established in Ownership and Access in a Global Information Market: A Framework for the University of Connecticut Libraries, issued by the Chancellor's Library Advisory Committee in March, 1999. (See other collections policies as well.)
Request a PurchaseRequests or suggestions for music/drama purchases or long-range goals should be sent to Tracey Rudnick, the Music Librarian and Liaison to Dramatic Arts. Collection decisions are based on need, short- and long-term collection plans and library policies, item availability and annual budgets. Use the library's purchase request form, or submit a request via email, email attachment, or in writing. Instructors should indicate if the item is needed for course reserve or assignments. For best results, please include a complete citation to the desired item (e.g., composer, title, publisher or record label, identifying numbers (e.g., label number), and performers (if item is a recording). If item can be best secured through a special vendor (e.g., one supporting brass music), please provide that information as well. The librarian will make all final decisions about purchases. Speak in person with the librarian for further details. |
