About the Music & Dramatic Arts Library

The Music & Dramatic Arts Library (M&DAL) was established by the University of Connecticut Music Department in the 1930s, and today is an official component of the University Libraries Research and Information Services Area. Numbering over 72,000 volumes, the collection supports a wide variety of music and dramatic arts programs in the School of Fine Arts. Use of the collection is extended to the University, community, and state. In June 1999, the library moved to a beautiful, new three-story facility. On October 14, 2000, the library's reading room (Level 2) was dedicated to the memory of Frank B. Cookson, first Dean of the School of Fine Arts and Professor of Music.
