Class of 1947
 In
honor of their 50th class reunion, the Class of 1947 raised $29,000
to furnish the Class of 1947 Conference Room.
The Conference Room, located on the plaza level of the Homer Babbidge
Library, is an attractive space for students and faculty to hold
special public events such as readings, lectures, and film showings.
Thanks to the generosity of the Class of 1947, it features state-of-the-art
computer and audio-visual equipment.

Class of 1948
In honor of their 50th class reunion, the Class of 1948 raised
$50,000 to furnish the Class of 1948 Information
Technology Learning Lab. This vitally important
new facility provides a small group, hands-on learning area
where students and faculty alike can develop their Internet
information retrieval skills in the company of an expert librarian
“navigator”.

Class of 1949
 In
honor of their 50th class reunion, the Class of 1949 raised over
$60,000 for the furnishing and equipping of the new Dramatic Arts
and Music Library, completed in 1999. Numbering over 72,000
volumes, the collection supports a wide variety of music and dramatic
arts programs in the School of Fine Arts.

Class of 1950
 In
honor of their 50th class reunion, the Class of 1950 raised $100,000
to furnish and equip the Class of 1950 Lecture Center.
The Lecture Center is a state of the art training facility and
multi-purpose classroom. In addition to being vitally important
to the library's staff for personnel and technology training sessions,
students and the general public also rely on this space for demonstrations
by the library's research staff and as a facility for invited
speakers who need the latest technology to conduct presentations.

Class of 1951
 In
honor of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1951 raised $100,000
to refurbish a large video theater on the 2nd floor of the Homer
Babbidge Library. The Class of 1951’s support provided
the funds necessary to transform this heavily-used, much-needed
room into one whose technology and facilities are up to date.
The Class of 1951 Theater is now a state
of the art audio-visual and training facility.

Class of 1952
 In
honor of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1952 raised $83,000
to upgrade and enhance a primary electronic classroom in the Homer
Babbidge Library. The Class of 1952 Electronic
Classroom is now a state-of-the-art teaching classroom
for students, faculty and community members learning how to use
the variety of electronic services available at UConn.

Class of 1953
 In
honor of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1953 raised $46,000
to establish a Class of 1953 Scholarship Fund
and to transform a video theater in the Homer Babbidge Library
into a state-of-the-art teaching facility. The Class
of 1953 Video Theater I will benefit students, faculty
and community members for years to come.

Class of 1954
 In
honor of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1954 raised over $46,000
to rehabilitate the quiet study area located on the fourth floor
of the Homer Babbidge Library. The Class of
1954 Quiet Study Room has been re-furnished and
now has a wireless networked capacity, enabling student to utilize
the World Wide Web from their laptop computers.

Class of 1955
 In
honor of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1955 raised $35,000
to establish the Class of 1955 Undergraduate Instruction
Classroom in the Homer Babbidge Library. As
part of the University’s new General Education requirements,
the UConn Libraries are now called upon to work in tandem with
the teaching faculty to see that each student who graduates from
UConn is “information literate”. Given the Libraries’
central role in enhancing academic enrichment on campus, the
Class of 1955 Undergraduate Instruction Classroom will
help implement this undergraduate enrichment program by providing
access to state of the art technology and instruction.

Class of 1956
 In
honor of their 50th reunion and in recognition of the University’s
125th anniversary, the Class of 1956 raised $73,000 to establish
the Class of 1956 University Archives Endowment
Fund. This new fund supports the University
Archives housed in the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center –
a collection of photographs, publications, documents and other
memorabilia that document the history of the University from
its founding in 1881 to the present. The endowment provides
the funding necessary for the gathering and preserving of these
important records and for providing access to them.
